Staffellauf 09

Yesterday I ran my first race, in pretty much my entire life. I have never really been a very big runner, but my friend convinced me to join her and 3 others to run in a relay race, or staffellauf. The race was 25km all together, so each person ran 5km. For those of you km challenged, that is a little over 3 miles. I have trained for a couple weeks now, but wasn't really sure how I would do. I ended up running the 5k in 25 minutes. I was proud of that time. We dressed in silly outfits and had a lot of fun with the race.
Here are some pictures taken at the race.
This is me and my friend Amy before the race started.
Me after running, I think I look damn good :)
My friend Sarah, in the final seconds of the race. She looks so serious.

I am starting to appreciate running, we will see if I continue to do so in the future. Also you can find more pictures on Facebook. We took most of the pictures with my friend Sarah's camera.

I just finished watching the entire Sex and the City series on DVD. This took me a few weeks, but today I finished the last episode. For those of you who have seen the series will understand what this blog is about.

In the last two episodes Carrie goes to Paris to be with her Russian artist boyfriend. She gets there and somehow feels out of place. She doesn't understand the language well, and she seems a little lost. She misses her home and her friends. The last two episodes of the series are two of my favorite, but they always make me cry. (and if you know me well, I don't usually cry)

This time watching it, I had a completely different feeling then the other times. I could relate more with her character. I feel that way being here in Germany. I like being here, but this is not my home, and somehow it just doesn't fit with me. It is hard to relate with the German people, I still have problems speaking the language, and I miss having close friends around.

Please don't think that being in Germany is an unpleasant thing for me, it is wonderful. I get to experience so many things that I would never have the chance to and I love that I am learning about other cultures. But it is not my home. I plan to come home in July 2010 and I think that 2 years is a good amount of time here.

So with that said, if you want a free place to stay in Berlin, and of course, see your truly, you don't have much time left. :)
